The Hunger Education And Resource Training program in Central Florida has been collecting edible perennial plants and demonstrating sustainable living techniques for many years. H.E.A.R.T. Village Nursery offers unique edible plants from around the world, specializing in perennial vegetables and fruits.

Persimmony Snickets LLC

A 4.5-acre farm in Lake Placid, with hundreds of persimmon trees and other fruit trees, bushes, and other plants. We are turning the farm into a permaculture food forest (a “food jungle” as we imagine it). We hold lectures and training on Permaculture methods and Natural/Organic (chemical free) farming techniques. We will be offering Permaculture Design Certificate courses and designing food forests and edible landscapes for clients. Another goal for our farm is to produce enough food to sell through CSA’s, at farmers' markets, and to restaurants. We will also host Farm to Table Dinners at the facility. Persimmony Snickets is open to visitors by appointment.

Mosswood Farm Store & Bakehouse

The store is much like the old general store where your grandmother might have shopped in her childhood. Think local, handmade and sustainable, butter churns, grain mills. We have a large selection of books on sustainable living, overalls made in the USA, vintage aprons and handmade reusable shopping bags, as well as natural laundry soda, locally made soaps, local honey and our own housemade jams, jellies and marmalades. Our bakehouse and espresso bar offers artisanal breads (baked in our wood-fired brick oven) and other treats. In Micanopy next to the museum on Cholokka Boulevard.

Morning Star Fishermen

Morning Star Fishermen is an international aquaponics research and training facility located in Dade City, FL. The Morning Star Fishermen staff and scientists have been pioneering more efficient and productive ways to live sustainably through aquaponics since 1993. More efficient and affordable aquaponic systems and strategies are being developed continuously. Our goal always stays the same, we educate students in a way that encourages and prepares them to teach others.

Living Towers

Living Towers is a state-of-the-art greenhouse that produces “beyond organic” lettuces, herbs, and vegetables. Seedlings and accessories to make growing your Tower Garden even easier than it already is. We use a water based growing system (Hydroponic) that creates its own highly oxygenated environment (Aeroponic) for the plant roots. Our plants are grown vertically, using the latest “Tower Garden” technology and a proprietary Tower Tonic plant food. Our wide range of ionic minerals and plant nutrients allow us to grow strong, healthy, nutrient dense produce essential to vibrant human health.

Sustainable Kashi

Intentional interfaith community, education space, permaculture demonstration site, and café on 80 acres in Sebastian, Florida.. Sustainable Kashi seeks to provide an environment in which sustainable living can be experienced, fostered, and observed. Kashi hosts tours, permaculture design courses, and special events.

Gretchen's Greenery

Local grower & seller of indoor, outdoor, patio, pond, and many butterfly- and bird-attracting Florida-friendly flowers and other plants. Located on a picturesque property off County Road 218 in Middleburg where you can leisurely wander, take advantage of Gretchen’s extensive knowledge and love of the plants, and see them in their natural environment.
